Kody?s connection to the water began at eight years old through competitive swimming and water polo, eventually leading him to play at the collegiate level. After graduating, he found himself missing the water and searching for a new way to stay connected to it. Scuba diving was a natural next step, but everything changed when he discovered the documentary One Breath and was introduced to the world of freediving. He knew almost immediately that he had found something special. In 2019, Kody traveled to South Florida to take his first freediving course, and shortly after, made the move to pursue freediving full-time. Since then, he has continued to grow as a diver, earning his Level 3 certification and eventually pursuing instructor training under 13-time world record holder Martin ?t?p�nek. For Kody, freediving has become much more than a sport?it parallels his faith and has given him a way to slow down, challenge himself, explore the ocean, and experience the underwater world in a completely different way. From pool training to reefs and blue water, every dive continues to teach him something new. As an FII Level 1 Instructor, Kody?s goal is to help others discover that same connection and experience the freedom that makes freediving so unique. He believes learning to freedive is about much more than simply holding your breath?it?s about developing confidence, awareness, discipline, relationships, letting go, and respect for the water while building skills that allow you to explore safely and intentionally. He especially values the community that comes with freediving and wants to help grow a welcoming, knowledgeable community of divers here in South Florida. Whether you?ve never tried freediving before, want to become more comfortable and confident in the water, or are simply looking for a new way to experience the ocean, Kody is excited to meet you where you are and help you take the next step in your journey!
