After years of spearfishing I decided to give freediving a shot and absolutely enjoyed the Level 1 course. Dan Koval was great at communicating his knowledge of freediving and made the 3 days enjoyable. My friends stated that I could skip the level 1 class and go straight to the level 2 since I already could do a 20M dive. After the classes I can honestly say it wasn’t all about diving deep and getting to the bottom. I learned to dive 20M more effectively to prepare me for deeper dives. I learned about safety, gear, and also learned that I am 100% interested in pursuing freediving. All I can say is that I had a good time and so should you

Aloha All - wanted to stop by here and leave a note for all to read and think about before & after you take this class. My Instructor was Enchante Gallardo and she was amazing to say the least. Very knowledgeable and applied a lot of free diving instruction to every day life and that helped me learn a lot from the course. I'm a older ex hockey player and after 12 knee surgeries things don't quit bend like they should and she was able to guide me flawlessly through the course utilizing my strengths to accomplish what was needed to pass the course & learn some very useful information isn't that right "Coach"... Anyways, I think if your looking for someone who can just guide you comfortably and make you feel like you can do it wayyyyy before you convince yourself you can - shes the Coach for you.. Thanks for everything Enchante and I know I won't ever be as good as you but I bet I am at hockey :) Aloha All

# 0 Level 1 Freediver
Instructor: Oliver Haroun
Just took the Level 1 Freediver course this past weekend with Oliver Haroun (Drift Freedivers), and had a great time. The first morning was classroom and theory which prepared us for the pool session in the afternoon. My legs were like rubber by the end. The highlights were performing correct water entry, rescue techniques / scenerio's, and 3 minute static breath hold. The second day was the open water dive session. The weather was perfect, water vis was 100+ feet and water temp was about 77 degrees. We started out hand lining progressively down to 20 meters. My fear was not being able to equalize at the deeper depth but with instruction and helpful advise (flushing hood with water before the dive), I made it to 20 meters which is a PB for me. Next was finning down to 20 meters. I had problems with my entry dive since I never dove off a float line before. With some coaching I made it down to the 20 meter mark again. Next was rescue scenerio's with the hardest one for me being a 10 meter rescue, with blackout on the way up. Due to pool practice I was able to perform, with just a little trouble gettingting face mask of at surface. Great time had by all. Back to the classroom for review, final exam, and instructor cretique. We were well prepared for exam and I aced this. Instructor critique was fair and very helpful. Talked about things I did right and things I could improve on as I progress with my freediving. If your planning to take a Level 1 course in Southern Florida I would highly, highly recommend Oliver. I did my research before taking a class and FII had the best course curriculum, and Oliver was the most experience instructor in my area that I could find, my opinion.

Fantastic course and very eye opening. Changed my perspective on the dangers of diving and I am extremely happy with all the information I learned. I would highly recommend the course to anyone who'd like to get certified. All three instructors were great, Ryan, Jeremy, and Eric. Special shoutout to Eric for being a great teacher and being very patient with his students. Thank you for teaching me a great life lesson!
